Watched a little recorded television today (you may remember the whole issue with no new shows a few days back) and there was a repeated theme in the commercials. I record some of the shows we watch late at night when we are in bed and that should give you a hint at the type of commercial. That's right, ways in which to make your skin perfect.
Obviously these commercials are aimed at women for the most part because most men don't really care. Of course, the fact that they don't use any male models or promotional actors is another hint. But what gets me is just how stupid they believe women are. They show these women with huge acne breakouts or blotches all over their faces in the first picture, then in the second they show them with "perfect skin." I put that in quotes because it is extremely apparent to me that all they did was cake on a ton of make-up to cover the blemishes. The "less" obvious things were changing the camera angle, lighting, and had their hair done by a stylist.
Seriously, how many women are fooled into thinking that these products are some kind of miracle that is going to cure things? And why aren't these companies getting sued for false advertisement? Just seems a to play on the thoughts of imperfection that many women have, most for no reason at all either.
