There's an App for That

Yep, got another tonight.  Guess you could say it is sort of making up for forgetting last night due to the Bears being on Monday Night Football.  At any rate, on to the tease for tonight.  There was a lot of political statements that I noted but this one takes the cake.  It makes me wonder where the information comes from.

So there was a lot from both candidates that I could have used, but for probably the first time the media seemed to be focused on missteps by President Obama.  With mad up words (Romnesia) and false statements (fewer bayonets in service now then in 1914) how could I pick anything that is better?  Pretty simple, the Obama campaign has come out with an app that gives their volunteers a lot of information.  What kind of information is in this app?  ABC News decided to test it's accuracy.  They went to a random house that was flagged in the app until they found someone willing to go on camera.  They spoke with a man and verified his name and age before they dubbed over the top of the conversation to block all the remaining personal information included.  I don't know if this app is something that is freely available or not but at some point I will check because it is outrageous that they are doing something like this.  They are using information that isn't publicly available to target people that are potentially going to vote one way or another.  That's right, I don't believe all of the information is freely available to the general public.  How easy is it for you to get information regarding the age of people?  That is something that could be found in information such as tax returns and other information kept by the government.  Just how did they get that information?  And are they sharing it with the Republican Party as well?  But more importantly, why did the government feel that they should release that information for the purpose of furthering the career of the sitting president?

In this age of information overload, I don't think any party should have an advantage over another by using information like this to target people.  I get that the government has this information for tax purposes but I haven't given them permission to use that information in this way.  Has a law been passed that gives them the right to use my information for this purpose?
