They Should Have Known

Got another quick one tonight.  This is one of those things that will usually set me off no matter what!  It is another example of the complete desire for people to just suddenly come in to money.  I have nothing against people becoming suddenly wealthy, just do it in an honest or lucky way!  This is a situation where they are hoping to get wealthy through litigation.

I'm sure most everyone in the United States that doesn't live under a rock has heard about or even seen the video regarding the Jet Blue captain who flipped his lid.  He had a serious breakdown to the point where some of the passengers had to restrain him before he did harm to himself or the plane and thus put everyone in danger.  Now some of those passengers have decided to sue Jet Blue under the pretense that the airline should have known it was going to happen.  Really?  Come on people give me a break!  How could they have known that he was suddenly going to have a major mental breakdown? The simple answer is that they couldn't.  Unless they had a psychological evaluation done on him just before he got on board.  And even then there is no guarantee that they would have caught it.  There is no telling what set him off.  It is completely possible that something during the flight did it.

So that leave me with a couple of questions to put out there.  Everyone is complaining about the high cost of flights now.  Where do you think the money is going to come from if a pilot is required to have a psychological evaluation?  Or are we going to begin to require that there be a psychologist on the flight as a crew member?  Again, where is that money going to come from?  I don't fly much (like 5 flights in my lifetime) so there is no way in which I would agree to having tax dollars pay for it.

American needs to get out of the courtrooms and start thinking about the big picture.  If you want to get wealthy quick, play the lottery.  Don't continue to waste time in court trying to be a part of the next big case.  The only ones who get wealthy from that is the lawyers.
