That's Parenting

I have to apologize for missing a week with posting but you need to understand that it is my first vacation in 8 years where we went somewhere.  And it's the first one in 17 or 18 years that we've gone somewhere that is a "vacation spot" so to say.  Very enjoyable for the most part.  And it was very nice to see such big smiles on the faces of my family.  So you may be wondering what am I going to rant about, read on and you'll find out.

With the long and cold winter, we wanted to go somewhere that would be warmer.  Unfortunately, we aren't at the point that we can actually go somewhere warm.  So we went to an indoor water park.  Nice and warm, water temp is kept at 84F, and that means the air temp is very warm as well.  And we topped it off with getting a room in the hotel that was attached directly to the water park.  Made for an excellent experience.  But where my issue comes in is the parents that went to this park to use it as a babysitter.  You know the type, they sit in the room or the adult only area and let their kids run wild.  Simply one of the most annoying things about an amusement park of any kind!  It seemed to be worse here for some reason.  We were sitting in the family hot tub and a little girl walked in all by herself.  It isn't that the tub was deep, it's just that she was barely taller then the water and she was alone!  I know, there is a lifeguard on duty for the tub but come on people.  Drowning isn't the only issue!

Creeps know about places like this and how parents tend to act.  And what really kills me is that these parents would be the first to cry foul if their child was taken.  They would fire up the phone and contact the lawyers to start a lawsuit against the park because of it.  Yep, they would likely call the lawyers before the police.  And this comes back to a recurring theme within several of my posts, people don't want to take responsibility for their actions.  When I was a kid, mothers would be on the phone with the police while the father was out searching.  Now days, they call the lawyers and claim that they knew exactly where their child was at all times.  And what sucks is that the police can't say what they should be, "If you knew were they were at all times, how were they taken?"  Because if they did, they would open the department up for a lawsuit.

To top that off, these kids make it less enjoyable for many others that go to the park.  In this park, there is a lazy river.  I really enjoy them, except here.  You couldn't just float, which is the point of a lazy river.  All of these kids that were let loose would walk through it pushing you wherever was convenient for them.  And when I said something to them, they would get even more rude, like they owned the place or something.  Wouldn't have done any good to try find their parents because they are obviously the type that don't care as long as their kids are out of their hair.

Anyone else run into this same kind of crap?
